I am incredibly grateful to have matched into the Family Medicine Residency Program at Dalhousie University. The journey to residency was long and challenging, but my training at All Saints University helped build the resilience, clinical foundation, and determination needed to achieve this milestone. Matching into residency is the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and belief in the process. To current students, my advice is simple: stay focused, trust your preparation, and never give up on your goal of becoming a physician. The path may not always be easy, but with dedication and persistence, it is absolutely possible. Long Nights, Lighter Steps Looking back, I’m not sure how I got through those last few months of medical school. Between the exhaustion of finishing rotations, the board exams, the endless pressure of interviews, and that agonizing wait for Match Day, I honestly felt like I was running on fumes and caffeine. But when it was all over and I saw where I’d be spending my residency, every all nighter and every moment of doubt suddenly made sense. Graduating felt surreal and the pride wasn’t just in the diploma, but in knowing I hadn’t quit when things got hard. Now, heading into residency, I know the real work is just beginning. I’ll be the first to admit I’m nervous, there’s still so much I don’t know, and the responsibility feels heavy. But I also feel ready in a way I never expected. The support from my mentors, my family, my friends and even my fellow classmates who struggled right alongside me got me here.

I’m immensely thankful to ASU for the opportunity to realize my dream of becoming a physician. From day one, I was welcomed by a supportive community and faculty dedicated to student success. The curriculum is rigorous, providing a strong foundation in medical sciences while offering practical, hands-on training. The clinical rotation opportunities, with connections to hospitals in the Caribbean and the U.S., have been invaluable in preparing me for residency. My time at All Saints was memorable and, I am proud to be part of such a dedicated and supportive institution.

I am deeply thankful to my family, All Saints University Dean of Academics and faculty, mentors, and friends, whose constant support, encouragement, and belief in me have made all the difference. Matching into a residency program is truly a dream come true, better yet, matching into my #1 choice in Family Medicine—an absolute miracle that I could not have achieved alone. The path to this point has been filled with challenges, sacrifices, and moments of uncertainty, but each obstacle has played a crucial role in shaping me into who I am today.

I thank God for blessing me with this achievement and for directing me to choose the right medical school. I can’t think of any other accredited medical school that will tolerate a student with as much financial challenges as I had as ASU did.
